The company, H.G. Ridder Automatisierungs-GmbH, was founded in 1980 in Hamm/Westphalia by Mr Heinrich Georg Ridder. The company was orginally formed to design and manufacture CNC vertical lathe machines, where their rapid growth and experience with CNC technology allowed them to design, develop and manufacture water jet cutting machinery.

H.G Ridder delivered its first water jet cutting machine in 1990, since then the WARICUT water jet cutting system has progressed to allow 3-D cutting, use of abrasive material and multiple syncronous cutting heads.
