The Huron K2X 8 Five machining centre, the first in the K2X Jan 07, 2007
The Huron K2X 8 Five machining centre, the first in the K2X - 5-axis range, benefited from Huron's experience and know-how in the design and production of high-
performance, high-speed machining centres.

Following the success of this model, the K2X - 5-axis range is expanding with a new model: the K2X 10 Five. Introduced in 2005, this centre offers the technical performance required to meet our customers' toughest demands.

The K2X 10 Five, with its 900 x 900 x 450mm strokes, has a 630mm diameter birotational table for a maximum workpiece weight of 500kg and a machining volume of 800 x 400mm.
It is therefore capable of high-speed machining in five continuous axes on five faces, from roughing to finishing work on moulds, dies and electrodes in addition to small and medium-sized complex precision parts intended for the automotive and aeronautics industries.
One of the decisive, innovative concepts of the K2X 10 Five is the kinematics of the birotational table angled at 45 deg with a 630mm top.
The table is particularly rigid as its centre of gravity is situated in the centre of the guide systems.

The servo-control of the table's rotary axes has a direct drive (torque motor), giving the machining centre strong dynamics and high accuracy, no play on reversal and no wear.
The speed of table rotation is 90 rev/min.
With high working speeds of up to 50m/min on linear axes, we obtain acceleration rates per linear axis of 5m/s - and up to 1.5G - at the tool.
Spindle power and speed are other remarkable attributes of the K2X 10 Five centre.

Fast, powerful, high-torque spindles are mounted on this Huron centre to achieve a high cutting capacity.
The rigidity of the machine combined with the power and speed of the spindle result in a maximum number of high-productivity machining operations in a single workholding action, in hard materials such as steel, titanium, etc.
Finally, special attention has also been afforded to the ergonomic aspects of the machine.

The structure has a fixed gantry with a 630mm diameter table which rotates (C-axis, 360 deg) and tilts (A-axis, -30 deg/+90 deg).
The table pivot axis is positioned such that the surface to be machined is angled towards the operator who therefore maintains good visibility and better control of the work area.
The fully-opening shroud facilitates the handling of heavy parts from above the machine and therefore makes it easier to load and unload the workpiece.
